Who Are We?

We are a first-of-its-kind social enterprise and community coalition of subject matter experts that uses indoor farming unionized cooperative ownership, and cannabis economic development to address systemic challenges such as deindustrialization, food access, and a lack of equitable investment in our West Baltimore communities. By empowering residents and mobilizing local and state stakeholders, we can realize the dream of abolishing poverty and become an example to the Nation.

Utilizing vertical farming, we envision the creation of a sustainable industrial ecosystem by cultivating pathways to economic empowerment for residents through innovative education, and value-added  practices.

  • Cultivate local partnerships that can grow economic development opportunities in Baltimore City through “cradle to career” and “live where you work” opportunities.
  • Encourage community needs are met locally through innovative industrial pursuits to improve quality of life, the efficiency of city operations, and competitiveness.
  • Ensure the needs of present and future generations are met with respect to economic, social, and environmental equity.

With the highest cannabis conviction and poverty rates in the State, West Baltimore is the prime community to capitalize on the vacant property surplus and create seed-to-sale operations that cater to residents, consumers, and tourists. This sustainable framework will bring industry and funds back to the city.

The Baltimore Vertical Farming Association, Inc. is a newly formed member-based organization created exclusively for educational, and social equity purposes. Specifically, we seek to improve the overall living conditions of residents by providing funding for schools, healthcare services, and social equity/entrepreneurship opportunities within Baltimore while advocating for sustainable innovations.
