Who Are We?
The Baltimore Vertical Farming Association (BVFA) is a community coalition of subject-matter experts building a social enterprise that expands wealth, ownership, and agribusiness opportunities in Baltimore City. Through indoor farming, cooperative ownership, and cannabis economic development, BVFA responds to the long-term effects of deindustrialization, food insecurity, and disinvestment in the Black Butterfly. By empowering residents and uniting local and state partners, we are creating a model for community-led economic renewal that can help close the racial wealth gap and deliver tangible, restorative, and sustainable resources for residents. Transform “Vacants” into Vertical Farms.
With the highest number food deserts, cannabis conviction and poverty rates in the State, West Baltimore is the prime community to capitalize on the vacant property surplus and create seed-to-sale operations that cater to residents, consumers, and tourists. This sustainable framework will bring industry and funds back to the city.Ready to grow with us?
